Pure intellect and Samadhi--Dr.Raju.

I feel that in this context this particular word(Medhavi) is used to
indicate pure intellect which implies an intellect endowed with Self-Knowledge which all sages enjoy.We cannot conceive
Vishnu without Self-Knowledge.Intellect has sharp discriminatory capacity in individuals with Self-Knowledge
unlike those with Self-Ignorance who have a dull intellect
as majority humanity has.An individual with Self-Knowledge
is naturally more intelligent and wise because they are
qualities of Self reflected in pure intellect.The root
meaning of "dhi" is Buddhi or intellect.If Buddhi has equanimity
(sama) then we have Samadhi.So those with Self-Knowledge
are in a state of Samadhi which does not mean trance which many people believe but a state of intellect it is free from the
known(Phenomenal reality yet functions in it with the
background of Self-Knowledge).This is called Sahaja Samadhi
in contrast to Nirvikalpa Samadi in which the individual enjoys Self but loses body consciousness and so cannot function in the phenomenal reality.
